Ugh. When are people going to realize that this representative battle isn’t a game…? The only thing being risked here isn’t a watch, for crap’s sake. Hibari was being held immobile by Mammon while, about 10 feet MAX away, Xanxus stood, pointing a gun at his face.

Do you really think the only damage in taking a shot from fucking XANXUS at that close of a range would be to the watch? NO. For fuck’s sake, Hibari could have easily been killed, or at least mortally wounded, if he’d been hit by that. Let me repeat that: HE MIGHT HAVE DIED. That’s exactly what Xanxus was going for, actually:

Dino was not stopping Xanxus from “breaking Hibari’s watch”, he was stopping Xanxus from breaking HIBARI.

This relates also to that “wah wah, why’d Dino save Hibari even though they’re on different teams wah wah” bullshit that people are whining about. That also infuriates me. Like, really? You think Dino’s just gonna casually stand there and watch Hibari, his first student ((see! I’m being objective! I didn’t even say ‘his lover’!)) get killed right before his eyes simply because they aren’t ON THE SAME TEAM? I think everyone who complains about that is either underestimating the importance of FAMILY and FRIENDSHIP in this series, or underestimating the seriousness of these battles. This isn’t playtime. This is a war.

Everyone might have been separated onto different teams, but that hardly means their bonds no longer exist. From the get-go this series has been all about protecting those who are important to you and overcoming any type of obstacle for the sake of doing so. Tsuna— an easy and indisputable example— shows us this time and time again, with every battle he fights. It’s very much a recurring theme in KHR. So can we really expect that after 372 chapters of slowly developing a relationship with Hibari, Dino’s going to abandon him entirely when the only obstacle that could hinder him from saving his precious student is this ‘different teams’ crap? Please. That’s not even an obstacle. Whenever it’s in their power (and most times even when it isn’t) a character in this series WILL save their friends.

(and please don’t try to tell me that there isn’t a relationship between Dino and Hibari, because I will honestly just laugh in your face. Even if you don’t ship D18 you’d have to be blind not to see the bond between them. But that’s a rant for another day, I suppose.)

So, in conclusion, please stop complaining when someone jumps into a battle in this arc to save a friend. Because, honestly? You should be expecting this kinda stuff to happen by now. It wouldn’t be KHR if people weren’t protecting their friends, now would it?
